I found the process of modeling a die to be an interesting experience. While the software was relatively easy to use, it took me a while to realize I had to be very deliberate with my actions. At first, I had difficulty because I was making the circles on the die too large and deep, causing them to intersect each other. However, once I slowed down and thought through my actions, I was able to work more effectively. One area where I had to make compromises was with the shape of the die. While dice tend to have slightly rounder dots, I found it difficult to perfectly represent this in Fusion360, so instead I represented it through a steeper indent in the hole.
I think this tool can be very useful for humanistic research and learning, as it can provide a fairly simple way to share models of objects digitally, which can be much more accessible then relying on physical replicas in education. One piece of advice I would give to other model makers is to plan ahead, so that you don’t have to change mistakes constantly.
