I think ArcGIS online platform lowers the requirements for ordinary people using GIS technology. GIS experts usually use ArcGIS Pro, which is more powerful than the online version. However, I think the online version can fulfill most DH requirements. Moreover, the online version’s social properties are much better than the ArcGIS Pro, which I believe is critical for digital humanities. I remember working on a geology program in the summer. My supervisor wanted to make the project a story map because it would help the professor show the project to the class more easily. This is a convincing example of how the social version of mapping technology can support education.
