Goals:
- Research previous students’ experiences with OCS trips
- Collect and clean an interesting dataset of Carleton OCS programs, outlining their locations and the number of students in each program.
- Create an interactive map showing the popularity of Carleton’s OCS Programs over time with links to personal experiences from the programs.
Values/Expectations:
- Clear and consistent communication
- Individual work completed on time
- Do your best, try to deliver high-quality work
- Each member will do what they are more comfortable with/skilled at
- If for some reason you can’t make a deadline let the other members of the group know
- Be clear on what each task consists of/what the project is going to be, so everyone is on the same page
Communication Plan:
We are planning to use GroupMe to communicate. We will save the information and work on collaborative blog posts/written work in a shared google drive folder.
Responsibilities:
- Elaina, Cullen, and Arthur are all CS majors/potential majors, so they will handle the coding end of things and data cleaning part
- Madeleine and Sonya are comfortable with the research side and storytelling component of the project
- Zack is interested in the GIS component
- Ben can handle the presentation components and be an additional CS resource
- We can all be responsible for calling meetings
Handling Disagreements:
- Overall, be respectful of one another and open to new ideas
- Be clear with opinions
- Be mature
- Vote if the group is divided
- Don’t let resentment simmer
